Golden Temple
Golden Temple is one of the most spiritual places located right in the heart of beautiful city of Amritsar, Punjab, India. Because of which it is easily reachable from any part of the city. It is the holiest site of Sikhism and is also known as Sri Harmandir Sahib or Darbar Sahib. Golden Temple is a symbol of brotherhood and equality. It is visited by millions of people from all over the world. They come here to seek spiritual solace and religious fulfilment. Despite of thousands of people, the only voice you will hear around you is silence interspersed with chants of the Sikh prayers. It is plated with gold and has a square plan structure of four entrances with a circumambulation path around the pool. Golden Temple is one of the extremely beautiful, elegant and graceful attractions in the world.
Wagah Border
Wagah Border marks the boundaries between Indian and Pakistani borders as it is located at a distance of 22 km from Lahore and 28 km from Amritsar. It is famous for an entertainment ceremony that includes both the closing of the international gates and lowering the flags of both countries and is held every day before sunset. The flag ceremony has been conducted by the Indian Border Security Force and Pakistan Rangers since 1959. People visit this place from all over the country to watch a display of national pride. This ceremony takes place every evening immediately before sunset at the Wagah-Attari border, the soldiers from the Indian and Pakistan military meet at this border post to engage in a 30-minute display of military camaraderie and showmanship. On the international level, It is called the Beating Retreat border ceremony. During the ceremony, the people of our country engages in chanting the Indian national anthem, rounds of applause and Bollywood-style dancing on Hindi songs. It is an occasion where every Indian heart is filled with pride and enthusiasm and attracts many visitors as well as international tourists.
Jallianwala Bagh
Jallianwala Bagh is a public or historic garden located near the famous Golden Temple of Amritsar. It houses a museum, gallery and a number of memorial structures. It was the property of the family of Himmat Singh, who originally came from the village of Jalla district of the Punjab in India. Jallianwala Bagh is related with one of the saddest days in Indian History as when thousands of innocent people gathered for a peaceful celebration of Baisakhi and were killed on the orders of General Dyer. It is estimated that over a 1000 Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs lost their lives in this devastating incident. This brutal assault left a deep scar on the country. A number of structures are present inside the building which resound of the incident that occurred here. It also include a wall which still has the marks of the of up to 36 bullets that were fired blindly at the crowds and a well in which many people attending the meeting jumped to save themselves from the bullets. These two structures are reminders of our freedom struggle and the sacrifices made by our predecessors to build an independent India. Jallianwala Bagh is established by the government of India in 1951. It now has been turned into a beautiful park and is managed by the Jallianwala Bagh National memorial trust as it serves as a record of history.
